Ugly Worms and Deep Sea Creatures

I don't know if it's all this talk about Rupert Murdoch, Casey Anthony and politicians threatening us with the end of the world as we know it, but, this picture of a hydrothermal worm taken by an electron microscope seemed to be appropriate for today.

Kind of cool though, isn't it? As long as it stays way down in the deep sea that is.

Unfortunately, it won't be as easy to avoid the really ugly worms like those mentioned above.

A quick note to my West Coast peeps - this worm can be found across the Juan de Fuca Ridge and off the coasts of British Columbia and Washington state. And you thought it was just sharks and killer whales you had to worry about.
